I was also thinking of putting a new cigarette lighter/socket in the dash above the climate control. I am looking for something that will only be used for accessories, not a lighter. I want something that looks good with a cover. suggestions? |

My intention is to put the outlet in the back section of the centre console, in the same bit of plastic the transmision gear selector is in. As I only use mine to charge a phone, it seems like a good spot. Of set to one side to clear the fader audio control.
And as there was no black wrinked plastic near where I live, I covered mine in black vinyl, wrapped around edges and into holes, which matches the interior well, and fills the hole cause by my holesaw being to large. |

I put a new cig lighter under the arm rest (wired strait to the battery, no more switched lighter for me ). The wires are hidden along the foot well, but are exposed next to the driver's seat. It doesn't look great, but no drilling was needed. I am trying to make all of the modifications I am make on this car easily reversible. If I want to ditch the gauges later all I have to do is pull off that panel and stick the ashtray back in. The only damage is a pair of 1/16 inch holes in the metal ashtray mount that are not visible with the ashtray in place.
