I agree about the older model BMW's. They are as well built as any MB of the same period. If MB had brought over some of it's euro only cars in the '80s, they would have given BMW some serious competition. Like a euro spec R107 500SL, or a early '80s euro spec 500SEL w126 that had more sophisticated options than any other car availible. Including four wheel hydro-pneumatic suspension.
I was fooled when I bought my '89 325IC. I thought it was well made, like a 2002. Well, it wasn't, and I sold it to a sorority girl who thought it was "awesome". Lot's of luck to her. Especially when she had a gas station replace the water pump. They messed up the cam timing and bent all the valves. My buddy made a few bucks correcting their mistake. The real loser is the customer. |

My local BMW parts guru claims that BMW no longer supports the 524. Sounds like it could be trouble.
