Iwent to the Delta hanger where they rebuild their airplanes. Boy LOTS OF titanium parts in those rolls royce jets!! With a titanium engine, it would sure as hell weigh a lot more BUT WOULD LAST FOREVER IMO! Heck yes I would DEFINATELY buy that !! I'm sure you could get it a lot hotter than the 125 mark for sure and still have no worries! Make it, I'll buy it but I would like it to be constructed as strong as a diesel though

i beleive that

titanium is about same weight as al but stronger than steel, so an engine made of that should be lighter than al or steel either one.

titanium is as strong as but lighter than steel. It is nowhere near as light as aluminum though.

From wikipedia
"Titanium is as strong as steel, but 43% lighter; it is 60% heavier than aluminium, but twice as strong;"

Well they seem to use them in high rpm engines. Getting weight out of the valve train lets the engine rev faster and higher.

Going back to the 7.3L version of the M120 I think red line is about 7k. Thats a lot of mass, 4 cams 48 valves.

yeah

lighter valve train allows higher rpm wo the valves floating out of control. also lighter connecting rods allow higher rpm too.

thanks for the definintive information on the weights of material.

i thought that al was 1/3 the weight of steel and 1/3 the strength as well. is that right?

He seems to be a very nice and honest fellow who would take good care of it and would really appreciate it. I can wait for the bluetec cdi diesel to come out if it is coming soon, like in the middle of this year. Otherwise I will sell whatever car I have at that time and buy the diesel. Besides, I wouldn't mind playing around and experimenting with a gasser Benz also as I have never had one. If for some reason the deal with my E300D doesn't follow thru from that other guy's side then I WILL DEFINATELY KEEP IT! Do you know when the c-class bluetec cdi is coming out?
Thanks for the kind words. I hereby solemnly swear to pamper this beauty to the utmost end of its days (or mine).
