I replaced the hood pad on my 1985 300D a while ago using an adhesive from 3M. I am sorry, but I do not remember the name of the product. I went to a local independent auto parts store and they set me up with the right stuff.
Now, here is what I did to help the installattion. I put the hood in the vertical positon. Then I have two 'taller than my fender' saw horses that I placed one on each side of the car. Last I put a 2 x 10 plank across the saw horses. This way I could stand right next to the hood top to bottom and side to side. I was as though I was putting wall paper on a wall. Having the right 'tools' is a important as the right parts. |
