1984 300SD A/C issues
Hi all and tthanks to Brian who helped me successfully fix my tranny problem. One last project, My A/C. I got this car about three weeks back. The ac compressor was frozen... and no belt... I realize that this could be a large issue with possible debris in the system..... first of all I picked up a new compressor.. rebuilt one only a 100 bux.. good place to start I thought. anyway I installed it and tried to charge the system R134 with help of an adapter... I may track down some R12 later if I get the system working...
It seemed to only take about a can of freon. and the compreeor never kicked, in... I tried shorting the pressure switch at the drier but it would still not kick in.... #1 should it start no matter what at that point, what else could be wrong... #2 what voltage should be at the electrical connection at the comprsseor be to activate it???? Im thinking its possible the comprsser I got could have a bad clutch,, this is my first concern... then any suggestion on how to clean out the system of any debris.....thanks in advance..... Joe |

No, But I will... I did install the R$ compresser... the compresser has not engaged get.. am I safe to assume since the compresser has noe engaged I have time to still flush and install the dryer, and expansion valve???? also is my 300sd pretty close to the same system as the w123 300DT you have in the pictorial. speciffically, is the expansion valve behind the glove box??? thanks Joe
