Need advice or good shop in Columbus , Oh
So, on my 1987 300D I have a few transmission leaks, normally amounting to a couple of spots in my driveway. I have kept it topped off, but lately the transmixer is beginning to "flare" between 2-3, the engine revs until 3rd "catches". It does this occasionally- once or twice a week. I have been putting off getting under the car and checking the source of the leaks. because I am restricted by a work injury that prevents me from working on the car. The fluid looks good (clean) when it is checked. I think that a trans filter change and replace all transmission gaskets is in order, but I can't do it right now. Or maybe the transmission needs rebuilt all together. Rather than risk destroying the trans and running it this way, I suppose I will take it to a shop. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good independent shop in Columbus, Ohio? Any other advice on this situation is appreciated. Thanks.

I live in Columbus also (Hilliard) and I know of 2 independents that do mainly Benz work. One is on Roberts road just West of the train yard/International street and the other one is on Powell road again just west of the train track. That's a strange coincidence. Anyway, I have not used either place but I drive by both fairly frequently and they seem to be kept pretty good on the outside. Don't bother going to Crown Mercedes, I have tried to get parts there before and they don't seem to want to help. They don't even have key blanks! I think the shop on Roberts is called Performance Automotive but I'm not sure. I can look them up tonight and let you know. Eric.
