1975 or 1976, 155

Hi Folks,
I'm buying a 1975 MBZ 300D. I was kinda sure that the 115 body stopped in that year, but now I see a 76 on eBay that has the very same body as mine (VIN starts 115 114 on the 76) and has me wondering where I'm wrong.

Here are the two:

This one is mine.

Also, for my car (75) where cn I find a book on it, Haynes or Chilton, that will help me? I was wondering if using the 76-83 book would be okay?

Thanks,
Ginny in Denver

Yep

73-74 I think had the 115 up to the 240D and then in 75-76 they came out with the 300D. In 76 they came out with the 123 in Europe (watch that 70's video on this forum.....it says it was a 76....but I think they didn't start selling them until 77.

Anyway yes there is one. I have a 76 300D. I sure like that black one. I love it. Heck I might just paint mine black. I have black interior as well so what the heck....match my 300TD

I just said goodbye to it today though. Let someone borrow it. My buddies car broke down and is without so since I have a couple extra's laying around I couldn't just let it sit there. Plus the more miles on it I figure the better. 130K and counting?

Ohhh so do you already own that car? Or is it still for sale or.....are you the person who owns that lot? I see a lot of Mercedes for sale on there.

I own the Yellow 75, but will pick it up next weekend. It's in MT waiting patiently, calling quietly, though her calls are getting louder.

The 76, dark blue, not black, is for sale on eBay. So far, $1625. I'd buy it if I was anywhere NEAR the car.

not black

Hmmmm that is too bad. I wondered why the intererior looked blueish.

How was your dealing so far with this seller. I see stuff up on e-bay from him/her all the time?

Haynes doesn't make a manual for the 115. I have a 115 and checked Haynes's list of manuals. None available.

The seller's eBay ID is montanamuscle.
So far, I've been mostly pleased. The car is currently NOT starting. They believe that the car was parked without fuel and it sat for 2 months awaiting getting listed. During that time the fuel may have drained back into the tank and now there is air in the fuel system. Now, being in Denver, I cannot see and tell what might really be wrong, but they have a mechanic looking at it and will fix whatever they find. I've been pretty firm in my dealings with them, friendly but firm. If I drive 14 hours up to MT (with kids in tow) and find that the car isn't what it's advertised, I'll be very irrate and will shout to the rooftops about the seller.
That being said, I read all of their feedback and it's all glowing, including the many who bought cars from this couple. So, I trust them right now.

but they do make a MANUAL Transmission ...I saw one the other day....I was so envious. I never saw a manual 115 before that. I think it is still for sale. Mostly a parts car, but looks to be almost all there.
