300SD Door Trim Removal

I am trying to get the bottom door trim off of my 300SD in order to fix some rust that is growing right above the trim. I was able to pull out the bottom part of it, but the very top where the chrome strip is will not come off. Do I need to remove the chrome to get to some kind of fasteners?

You need to remove the chrome around the latch.....two screws.

You need to remove the large door pull handle. Three screws........on at the end....one in the middle.......and one machine screw at the top.

You need to remove the plastic trim around the chrome handle for opening the door.

And, from memory, I think you'll need to remove the seat switch. Two screws for this.

Then the door lock button must be unthreaded.

The door panel lifts straight upwards. Don't pull it outwards and don't pry on it. There are five tabs at the top that are easily broken.

I think he is talking about the lower outside door trim. At the rear top edge of the molding, there is a stud clip with a on nut the back. You need to pull out the weather strip to expose the nut. I think it takes a 7mm socket. Once you get this undone, the remaining clips along the top just pop out.

as ever
