I flip the switch tomorrow

I have my Veg Oil conversion all finished up. The car runs fine on diesel and I have primed the veg lines. I have checked for leaks, but plan to check again tomorrow. Anybody have any last words of advice?

Like the last posters advice. Good common sense. Carry extra fuel filters and tools to change them as some crap may dissolve with the wvo. It is to be expected in the initial period of changeover I believe. Most people in the health food industries are pushing veggies now for quite some time.: Try not to land up pushing yours. Have always resisted changing one of mine over as would have to rename it the heinz 57 special or something simular. Really though just the best of luck.

Just switch it over and let 'er rip. If it leaks you will find it and get it fixed. Don't stress over it too much.

Diesel Giant said it...
Don't sweat it too much if it doesn't run smoothly. Air is very hard to get out of the lines and filter especially. Usually takes most people a few tries. Takes me a few tries and I've done it dozens of times.

Is this a 2 tank system?
You do have a couple of sets of extra spin on s and primarys in the trunk?
I would use StarTron diesel additive just to be on the safe/clean side.
It has done wonders for alot of diesel owners who start to run Veggie.
BTW...How about some pics of your 240 and the conversion?
and your VW too.
What part of WA is Pullman??

This is a 2 tank system, and I have independedt Veg and diesel filters. If I plug the veg filter I should be able to switch back to diesel. Pullman is in Eastern WA, a stone's throu from ID. Pictures to follow. Off to lunch then the test run!

IT RUNS! I switched over and there was not even a hiccup. I got out and smelled the exhaust and it was delicious! My injection temp was...100 F... WHA??? It should be around 160 My current route is HIH, FPHE Filter with a wrap, temp sensor, IP. I think I will switch the route so that the FPHE is after the filter. My theory is the filter wrap can not heat the oil as well as the FPHE (duh) and the filter is so large that it was taking awhile to displace the oil in it with the hot oil from the FPHE. I'll play with it more tomorrow.

What's your system like? Some get hotter than others. I have Greasel main tank system. It took 1.25 hours of back highway (not freeway) driving for tank to top out at 140F. It started at 73F. Not very impressive. Something may be wrong. I'm triyng to get my vegie oil temp sensor after my heated filter to work. Where did you put yours? I bought the $14.00 sunpro mechanical water temp gauge/sensor from Advance and T'd it in after the heated fuel filter before the fuel selector valve. The instructions say dont T it in but i saw other grease systems T in theirs and could figure no other way to do it. It is not working i do not think. The needle never moves. The bottom of scale is 100. So i am going to test the gauge with a cup of boiling water and then proceed from there.

Anyway, i'd love to see pics of your system. Especiall your instrument panel. Very nice. BTW, a friend turned me on to a good quick and dirty WVO tank temp sensor -- A digital meat thermometer with timer and alarm they sell at Lowes (a Walmart company) in the Outdoor garden section for 16.99. It has a metal hook probe and long braided cord that can withstand 700F . I drilled a small , 1/8 or 3/16 hole in top of tank and dropped er in. A small grommet would be perfect to hold the splash in think. I brought it up through the first aid access hole let er sit in my back window. I can watch the temp in rear view mirror. Not very elegant but sure is practical and easy. Plus i can transfer to another car or be a hero if anyone is in dire need of a meat thermometer.

cheers

Confirm your VDO temp sensor gauge with someones infrared point and shoot gun. What does your gauge measure? Coolant or fuel temps? Where is it located?

Oh..... and your coolant system may need burping too. You FPHE may have an air bubble in it so its not heating the fuel yet.
