Actually some of the higher mileage CDI's are now dropping into the $30K's. When I think about it, for a few more thousand I could replace my '96 and my Jetta with such a CDI. Hmm, except they don't come with a stick and from behind they look like a Ford. But they're somewhat tempting nevertheless. I just don't know about all those electronics. Even the brakes are electronic from what I heard! And there's no engine oil dipstick... it's all computer-monitored.
