Attaching a Bumper on a W123
The heads of the bolts connecting the rear bumper mounts to the aluminum bumper have have rusted off of one side, leaving a sagging bumper. It appears that the bolt head slides into an extruded groove on the inside of the bumper.
Anyone have any experience with this? Does this require special bolts or does one make due(do) with whatever works? Thanks, Alex

the only
proper fix is a new or good used bumper.
myself, i have drilled them out and used thru bolts before, they will mostly hide under the rubber bump strip. i have also substituted a block of wood for the bumper shock in a pinch too. but there is no way to glue it back or weld it back successfully that i know of. when they corrode there isnt enough left to work with. tom w
