Thermostatic fan

At what temperture does the engine have to be to have the thermostatic fan start on a 1983 300 Sd Turbo Diesel?

On the 300D, the electic fan comes on with the a/c refrigerant temp goes above a set value...it has nothing directly to do with engine temp.

The sd model might be different.
