Replace Power Window with Manual
I did some searching and didn't find anything specific to this.
I have a rusted parts car with a beautiful interior that I would like to swap with my Florida sun-baked "good" car (both 1981 240D's). My preference would be to replace the power windows of my "good" car with the manual windows of my parts car, including the interior panels. For various reasons: No worries or expense related to power windows, much nicer inside panels, etc. Anyone ever heard of doing this? Thanks for your input:) |
i have done it
no prob. the rear crank goes where the pw switch is but doesnt completely cover the hole. fron t you have to poke a hold for it.
no worries tom w |
Thanks Tom.
Actually, I'm using the interior panel from the parts car with the manual crank, so no holes. My concerns are: Swap glass and regulators? Swap just the regulators? Mounting for both types of regulators the same inside the door? I'm kind of hoping it's all plug and play (regulators and glass) whether power or manual - I can't switch doors as the parts car is badly rusted (and a different color:D) |
Plug and play.
Remove the power regulators, install the manual. Second best upgrade behind switching from auto climate control to manual.

yeah plug n play. Member 'Ridge' does this to his w123 diesels.

OK, so how do you switch from auto climate control to manual??? I'd love to do that on my '85 300TD (anything to make the climate control work better).

Anymods like this on 300SD?
