Injector removal.

Hey guys, im going to go look at the SDL and 190D this weekend but if i do decide to go with one of them i want my SD to be in the best shape just so i dont get the next buyer coming back with a bat!!

Anyway im curious as to if the injectors have and carbon build up or coking so i want to remove them and if so just soak em in acetone and clean them.

I used the search but didnt come up with any real instructions or pics on how to remove them properly.

Pretty much just what it looks like.

Get a 17mm crowfoot (flare-nut-crowfoot, if possible) and remove all the steel fuel-supply lines running from the IP to the injectors. It helps to loosen the little 8mm nuts/bolts on the clamps in between the lines.

Once you've accomplished this, remove the rubber bypass lines. Take a razor knife and slice the hose lengthwise where the hose meets the injector. This makes pulling it off in one piece more likely.

Now get a deep 27mm socket and unscrew the injectors. It's that simple.

Pm if you get stuck.

Jay.

YAY! injectors are clean! no carbon or coking crap of any kind just clean old injectors. I was amazed how easy they came off. I guess maybe if there was any build-up the diesel purge and countless diesel additives i used would have cleared anything up.

Now onto other repair work.

Good stuff.

Next time you may want to consider building a home made pop tester and pop testing them.
