Thumbs up Stealership?

I called the local Mercedes dealership on Wednesday and ordered some new metal seals for my spin on filter. I asked them to mail them to me and gave them my credit card number, and they agreed. I received the parts today with a note saying “Bryan- I couldn’t bring myself to charge you for six washers-so they are on us. I hope this fixes your car.” The even picked up the postage. Nice service, especially since these seals ere $1 or so each. If you ever need Mercedes parts in Eastern Washington Mercedes of Spokane will take car of you.

I needed new bolts for the bulkhead etc on our '83sd during the sway bar epic, probably about 20 of them, the little metal screw/bolt + washer things that hold it to the car. They couldn't find the part in their schematics, so he dug around in back, came back with a big handful of shiny bolt/washers (25 of them) and said "here you can just have these, hope they work" Normally that'd have probably been a 30-40 cents (at least) part EACH. So that was about $10-15 worth of stuff for free. They also worked perfectly as replacements, so the bulkhead is now fastened in with a whole set of shiny new bolts.

I was also given a few free spin on filter copper o-rings by them at a different time, it didn't fix my problem, fuel leaking at the top of the bolt (probably need to sand the top of the alumnium housing smooth again) but a little bit of bright orange high temp silicon around it solved the problem perfectly.

Their cost to process the credit card order would probably have exceeded the value of the parts. They did the right thing, for you and for them. You are now a satisfied customer. For every dealer like that, there will be ten who will tell you your order doesn't meet their minimum......

Saddly I can't brag on our local MB dealer. Everytime, which is just as rarely as I can manage, I go in I get the dumb female routine. I really love the "little lady" bit.
