thanks to everyone who helped me out
i finally started my 1980 300d today. its blowing alot of smoke im not sure why it is but i think its all the old gumk in the system. does anyone have a clue why?

You will have plenty of things to chase with the gray smoke. Could be bad fuel, poor spray quality with the injectors, bad injection timing, low compression, or other things. That list will get you started though.
