Seafoam Motor Treatment
Anbody else ever use this stuff? My nieghbor gave me 2 cans as a "welcome to the world of diesels" gift (he buys it by the case). So I poured a can into a near full tank of fuel. Poured a couple of oz's into the crankcase, drove 65 miles, and changed the oil. The can says 50/50 mix with diesel for diesel purge use. Just from reading the can, this stuff will fix anything but a broken heart!
Frankly, I didn't expect much, if any change. But, I gotta admit, that engine is running smoother and quieter! I do wonder how much is due to Seafoam, and how much is due to just running the car, it had sat still for a year...but it is running better! It seems a lot of the diesel drivers around here use this stuff on a regular basis, the local Napa store keeps a whole big shelf of the stuff. I see the empty cans in the trash by the diesel pumps. So...think it's just another Dr. Feelgood snake oil or does it deserve some credit?

I have run it in my motorcycle and gas autos. I used it only as a fuel treatment and stabilizer. I didn't notice any real difference, I will have to see what my motorcyle carbs look like this spring when I clean them to see if it did anything.

Frankly, I am not real sure Mercedes lives in the real world anymore. My limited dealing with the dealer left me very un-sure of their abilities and ethics. I put much more faith in this forum and the actual real life experiences represented here.
As one member's byline states "Don't tell me what someone else said, tell me what you know"! Or words to that effect. So, have you ever used this stuff??

IIRC TDI owners buy that stuff by the case... mainly for intake cleansing.

I use it as a fog, in the tank, etc.on my small engines and only gasser. Very good for getting rid of carbon build up. I have not done a purge with it yet on my 602, but I will. I've been told the transmission product is the same, just different color and can.

Yes, I used to use Sea Foam on former 126. I lived in Minnesota where it is very popular. The company is out of Minnesota (Rochester, I think). I am not sure if they sell it out here or not, will have to look around.

I used it once to do a purge, but I didn't notice any difference, though that by itself doesn't mean it's a bad product. I'd imagine pouring it into your fuel tank would do nothing. You'd actually have to do a purge with it to notice anything. Perhaps it was a placibo effect that you experienced.

Placibo's often work for me....or at least I think they do!

I tried a numer of inkjector cleaners on my 300D when I got it to solve a problem with what was either a sticky or weak injector. I noticed nothing from any of them......with a couple exceptions. Diesel Purge quieted the engine a bit. That's not a hands down endoresment, but it did SOMETHING. The other one I noticed seemed to smooth the engine slightly was the Chevron Techron cleaner, but I'm uncertain whether it was that or cold weather settling in. The engine, although noisier, was smoother when the weather was cool.

Seafoam is the best stuff ever invented, I like to use it on the PCV systems on my cars, only used the stuff once on my old Benz, right before I sold it, so I didn't really notice anything with it.
