May install a LOUD Airhorn !!!!

Would like to get some feedback on this.

This sort of goes against my style, but I live in an area that has a crapload of s**ty and inconsiderate drivers. Like alot of places ...But here we have all that PLUS people that should have stopped operating heavy machinery 20 years ago too.

From years of frustration, I am considering installing one of those super loud truck horns on my old 300D. I've seen some kid with a Ford PU truck who has a Train horn on his truck. Not in favor of this but **** some of these drivers deserve to get blasted the way they drive...

Is this a good thing ????

A big airhorn on your roof or hood would look VERY cheesy on a Mercedes. However, the smaller airhorns will fit well under the hood or the trim panel under the bumper.

They sound like big ferrari but I bet 4 sets of them at the same time will get some attention.

LOUD horn

'Stop by and visit with your local firemen.
They will have an electronic horn on the engine, that will wake the dead!
It'll have multiple settings and different noises.

personally,if I win the lottery,I want something with the decibel power of the
old Queen Mary's horns.

With all the documented Road Rage happenings going on today it might be not so very good of an idea. Why not compromise? But a marine aerosol can with the funnel. Keep it near your phone. The NEXT courtesy call you get simply place the funnel directly over the mouthpiece of your phone and have fun and start air horn blasting away at the a-holes bothering you at home. If everyone did this to all the peckerwoods calling us daily to solicit money there would be a lot fewer people calling us. If you use that air horn on another driver "the cranked up and about to go postal type person" just might then redirect/transfer their anger and rage towards you. In MA a nimrod was killed with a frigging crossbow bolt w/in the last decade on 495. He felt the need to show some bravado so he stopped and confronted a very angry at the whole wide world type of rage driven driver. Why he felt that need to stop is beyond me? At least twice for no good reason I have seen people go balistic on highways. In rush hour one time I was keeping up with traffic and the guy behind me was honking and going absolutely nuts for no reason. He was pounding on the wheel and cursing at me and making all kinds of gestures. He must have slipped off of his meds.. Another time while merging at 55-60 on a ramp a driver speeding and changing lanes who was also using the breakdown lane got all pissed off and made threatening gestures. I was in my 375hp Mustang at the time so I did manage to laugh at him looking so stupid. I did not feel the need to stop either. I was not even near his car for a close call. To answer your question I would not want to add air horns to my MB. If one ever gets followed by a crazy person a poilice officer friend of mine warns all his friends never to stop for the nut cases and to drive directly to a police station, or look for a cop driving by and honk to flag him down. Then again if you live in a State with concealed carry laws and open gun racks and you are armed and quite proficient with firearms then "air horn the peckerwoods," and then feel free to stop and have some fun should they challenge you. My dad and I actually came up with an alternative to an airhorn assembly etc...we thought, why not just tripple up the original horns, yes TRIPPLE them. :D :D Mount them all over the place in the front bumper and where the original two are....so you have 3x the volume. The one concern was the amperage they will draw, any idea what six of the stock horns would use? :D  Just want to make sure the wires/fuse/steeringwheel horn switch can handle six of them. ;)

I might double mine up.....not sure if I am willing to go to six of them, my dad wanted to do a compressor and real air horn....so six stock horns is a compromise-idea.......we'll see.....

**Edit: I've been looking at the horns from later model years, maybe we'd use a few of those too.....so its just one big blast of horrifying sounding noise...they are even at a higher frequency.....this could be interesting..... :D

Why stop there. Install an air horn system from a locamotive! Hornblasters.com has the stuff you need. They have a series of 5 videos that is some of the "funnies caught in action: stuff I have ever seen. They were riding around in some small little Ford car "blasting" unsuspecting citizens on the street.

Your gotta watch it.

hey...you aren't alone in thinking that....would shock some of these nimrods out of their cell phone induced coma and make them focus on the road in front of them. The bigger and louder the better...as long as it can remain hidden.

I feel so lucky that I did it just in the nick of time. This was the closest call I've had in a long time. And I often am driving my kids (and friends kids) somewhere.

Unfortunately, sound doesn't work that way. A perceived doubling of the sound is actually a 10db increase, which is ten times the power. To perceive tripling of the sound, you're talking about a ~15db increase, which is well over twenty times the power.

So multiply the number of horns by twenty, and you'll nearly achieve your goal.
