Bosio or Flag

Hi folks,

Dealers in the UK for Bosio are getting thin on the ground. I have a number of enquires out for a set of 6 (OM606.910)

As a possible alternative, has anyone tried Flag (made in Germany)?

The dealer really stands by them with 20 years of use/experience -

eBay item number:161225654938

KonPart Import-Export GmbH - Automotive Parts - Flag Germany - Portex Products

I have not read of anyone using them here. I would question the Seller as to where the Injector Nozzles are made.

The reason for that is Febi or Myele has the Comany Name and Germany but their parts do not always come from Germany.
The Germany in their case indicates that their Company is based in Germay; not that all of the Parts they sell are made in Germany

Thanks for the reply bud.

I have email Bosio direct to see if they will supply me a set of six.

I have also emailed the folks selling these pop testers to see if I can get a 0 - 200 bar gauge fitted. 0 - 400 bar may make it a little inaccurate for small adjutsments.

Whilst I am awaiting replies from Bosio suppliers I wanted to see what Bosch were up to, maybe they have improved?

I explained to the seller of these items eBay item number:271408213171 about the poor quality Indian nozzles and asked if they were German made. He answered promptly with Brazil as their point of manufacturer.

Not sure where that leaves them in the quality stake, not German but not Indian either?

I agree that balancing the injectors is over-rated. I found 3 of the 5 injectors in my 1984 300D were non-turbo and popped at 1600 psig (as they should) vs 1950 psig for turbo injectors. I installed a set of 5 originally in my 1985, and all trimmed to 2000 psig pop. I noticed no difference in the way the car ran or idled.

If you really want to balance them well, the important metric is the pressure where they first open. To better capture the pressures, I designed a pop tester with electronic pressure gage (see post). I saw a triangle wave pattern as the injector popped. One might assume the peaks are where it first opens and the pressure drops after (pressure acts on more area), however not sure why it fluctuates like a machine gun as I push steady on the lever. Anyway, it doesn't do that in the running engine. The least comforting thing I found is that the results aren't consistent and depend a bit on how you operate the hydraulic pump. Sometimes I didn't get the "machine gun" effect and sometimes an injector gave more a stream, but looked OK if I tried stroking faster.

Finally, you don't have to pay $100 for shims. My post gave inexpensive McMaster-Carr PN's. I ended up using only the smallest (0.1 mm th I recall). Those change the pop ~50 psi. All my injectors were closely matched "as found", I just upped the pop a bit since should only help the spray pattern, though the injection pump is stressed more.

I have spoken with the supplier agreeing on a price for customising the tester to 0 - 200bar.

If folks are interested I'll start a new thread with a couple of video's setting up the new nozzles (not yet ordered, hopefully this week).

Cheers,

Question

I am getting ready to have mine rebuilt OM606.910 NA. I found a local shop that will test and rebuild, trying to find Bosio nozzles for them.

Is the process the same as this tutorial Will I need new heat shields

Yes, you will need new heat shields. They are one-time-use and must be replaced.

I have found that the Bosio part number for OM606 non-turbo injectors is "BN 0 SD 310" and the Monarch equivalent is "339 305 897". I have a set of the Monarch nozzles, but haven't had time to get them installed yet.

In general you can swap any gauge you want on the Diese Nozzle/Pop Tester. It just depends on what it is threaded for.

USA ones have pipe threads, not sure on metric ones.

thanks for providing the Monark part number! I was unaware they made them for my car. Even tracking down the Bosio number was a chore. Heck, even Kent Bergsma at ************** doesn't carry nozzles for this car.

The injector service placed quoted me $100 apiece to rebuild. I actually found the Bosio nozzles for like $5 ea but you have to buy at least 30.

At that price, you are likely buying a large quantity of counterfeit/garbage nozzles that will be a complete waste of money. If it sounds to good to be true...

That sounds like a dubious price. The only place I have been able to find them it is $33/each
