126 vs 123

I'm looking at purchasing a 300sd for my daughter (maybe she'll refuse to drive it ). What am I looking at concerning parts costs and ease of DIY when compared to a 123? Availability of parts a problem?

The parts cost of the 126 (pre '86) versus all W123 is nearly identical. The W126 has a few extra features such as power seats and outside temperature display, but, effectively, the maintainance costs will be just about identical.

The larger W126 can be easier to work underneath the hood because of the additional space.

but

if you happen to buy a 240 with simple everything, like stick manual windows etc, there is no comparison.

the 240 is the cheapest and simplist to run and maintain...by far.

the 126s are a nice ride though, i have two of them.
