Perish the thought!

Please!

Tell me to bury this idea, deep, and never bring it up again.

My '83 300td has a good heart, but is over all, pretty sad. I didn't pay much
for her, as buying it in the first place was something of an experiment.

I've grown really really fond of this car, in short order.

However, insurance time is coming around again, and I've got to figure out
what to do.

I was mulling over all the work to make her stand up straight and tall,
get rid of the rust holes, deal with the other horrors lurking around,
all more or less worth it, because the engine is so nice, , ,

then I noticed my old '87 Ford F150 4x4 pickup sitting there, with a tired engine
and a bad thought took root. The ford has the F300 six in there now, and
a cursory peek shows plenty of room for the OM617.952

is this feasable?

All responses to the effect of "It's a really dumb idea! Don't even think about it" welcome.

Unfortunately,
--yes.

that vile little habit, has gotten me into some bad trouble. Take note, those who
do not weld. If you don't, keep it that way, you're life will be much simpler

Yes, bury that thought. To waste an OM617.952 on Ford no less. Just pitiful.

Anything can be done with a torch and enough duct tape!

But I would have to agree with Old Dies. The only thing worse would be a Ford engine in a Mercedes chassis.

Blasphemy!

I am in the planning stages of putting one in my 67 firebird!

it was pretty hacked up by PO and I got an extra 617 turbo, so I am considering putting it in... Someday...
let us know if you put it in the F150

Do it! How cool would it be to have that combo. Those engines should be in everything.

Just for grins, I once thought about putting a 616 or 617 in the TOAD, my F100 farm truck, but there's a significant conflict between the truck's front crossmember and the engine's oilpan that no amount of duct tape is going be able to cure.
