How to jump the pot.. (dash lights)

My dash lights are out... I removed the gauge cluster, and the potentiometer is busted.. From what I understand, I need to jump it for the dash lights to work again...

I'm not an electronics expert, but do I just solder a wire between the two existing solder points on the circut board at the pot?

yepper, it is just that simple! On the back of the switch you will see two copper strips, just attach the wire between those two strips, a 2 minute job. You will not be able to adjust the dash lights, but to me, they aren't that bright anyway.

While the dash is out, replace ALL the little light bulbs...about a dozen.

You might want to avoid the risks associated with soldering the circuit board. Instead, solder a jumper on the back of the potentiometer itself (unless it's too "busted.") That way you don't mess up the circuit board and if you later decide to replace the potentiometer, you have not messed up the pins.

Thanks ! I went to radio shack and picked up a $8 kit that had an iron some accessories and some solder.

I jumped the pot sucessfuly, and also resoldered some clip looking thing near the pot that had come loose. Now i got the lights !

Thanks again!
