does anyone know how to remove the rear view mirror
I know this sounds silly but I can't figure out how to get the rear view mirror out and my headliner needs to be pushed back in.....
also I am having a hard time finding the sunroof motor.....is it in the trunk? thanx for your help and comments :) |
The rear view mirror pops out by grabing it and pulling it away from the windshield. t can be a burrer pushing it back in but it does pop in. The sunroof motor is located behind the left trunk molded plastic cover. You can see a small hole on the left cover that is used incase your motor fails and the sunroof is open. The motor is on the other side of the small round hole.

thank you for reading this thread
thanx a lot for your help. I found the motor and got the mirror out....
I removed the headliner and then after that I found out that I was nowhere close to getting my sunroof moving on it's own....I got the switch to finally actuate the motor but the sunroof seems to be binding.....I think I will try to remove the cable and try to clean out the tube.....at the end of my tube under the sun roof there looks like a small flathead screw and a "c" clip and then a black, half-moon sort of shaped plastic bracket......is there anything missing? also I was wondering....the very end of the cable tube is pinched shut.....the end coming out of the motor....should I open this up to remove the cable? or does the cable come out on the other end? Also something else on my mind is ....is there any sort of grease I could use besides special mb gease? will lubriplate do the same?>or is this exclusive........I just know how much mb likes to make a mint off of special mb stuff and I don't mind the cost unless there is an equal option with a smaller price bracket I guess that's all for now..... this car was definitely neglected..... I am used to driving volkswagens(old air-cooled) so I really enjoy fixing mercedes(they stay fixed!!!):D |
the cable is only like $70, you should prob replace it if its binding. Would suck to do all the work and not fix it right. I guess you could leave headliner out for a while and see if you can get it working.
