Pics of flex plate on 300sd

Hello experts,

Do any one know where I can find pics of a front flex plate on a 1982 300sd while it on the car. So I can know where to inspect the hard to find part I read a lot of info, but can't find pics. Need to know where to look for this part on the car and how to inspect it. Also when a flex plate goes bad does it also cause atf to leak

I don't have a pic of it in the car but you can look it up on Fastlane to see what a flex disc looks like.

They are bolted to either end of the drive shaft, just follow the tranny back and you will see the rubber disc between it and and driveshaft.

Talking Flexplate is an old dodge term.

as far as I can remember, my dad calls all auto tranny no mass flywheels "flexplate" this was because the old dodge slant 6 with an auto had a thin flywheel that flexed with the tranny for some reason.
all other parts books call the starter gear equipped flywheel from an auto tranny a flywheel.
clutch equipped vehicles have a heavy mass thick flywheel. the name is common with older mechanics.

Hmm, I always thought there was some sort of metal plate in there....I must have read something wrong from **************.com, thats where I rememeber picking that up, in one of Kent's "this horrible thing could happen to your car" fear-articles.

Ok, so no flex-plate thing between engine&torque converter...got it

*updates information archives in brain.....complete!

Yes there is a plate between the engine crank and TC

it is just called a flywheel. look at my above response for a few nomenclature details.

The reason the auto transmission cars have a minimum flywheel is because the torque converter mass takes the place of the heavy flywheel mass that is in manual transmission cars.

Here are pictures of my engines automatic flywheel. It's only a few mm thicker than the starter ring.
