How to unlock fuel door thru trunk?
The vacuum system on my '83 300D must have a leak - automatic door locks have stopped working. No big deal except that my fuel door will not open. I'm almost empty.
I tried unlocking all the doors by hand. Made no difference. Is there someway to open the fuel door thru the trunk? JWJ

OOF (out of Fuel) You don't want that!
There is a release inside the trunk (on the Starboard side of course) and you have to remove the stiff sideboard liner to get at it. You will need a flashlight.

Yep on the right side of the trunk under the heavy covering there is a brass colored lever/arm connected to a vac pod etc, pull it towards you(towards back of car) and it will go "thhhhump" and the fuel door will be freed!

OK, so I have the opposite question.
Can the fuel lid cover be locked with this same lever/arm? The vacuum door locking system is disconnected on my 240D and I don't care to fix it at the moment, but I would like to lock my $50 of fuel at night. Ken300D
