What's wrong with this picture?

Could a 190D owner take a look at this engine picture? I just noticed that the linkage on the passenger side appears to be disengaged. Is this so, and if so do you think it is signifigant? I'm placing the address for the ebay auction. Will need to click on the engine picture to evaluate.

Thanks

It looks like the cruise control linkage to me.

I do not have one of these cars, but this is what it appears to be to me.
Good luck!

The linkage is the cruise control linkage allright and has plastic ends is why it has fallen off as well as more plastic you don't see to fall off after you purchase it . However some people really enjoy working on those little cars ...

What to do

I think I'm going to e-mail the seller and ask him whats going on. In his description he said all electrical accessories work. I've 'won' this car but I've got some bad feelings about this car now. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

That really looks like a nice little 5sp 190D! First, if you "won" the car, then it's a little late to be worried now. Unless you paid a fortune it looks like you got a really nice little car, with some interesting receipts. Just a cautionary note: I see the speedo cable was replaced. Therefore, mileage may not be accurate. Having said that, I wouldn't care. Clean little standard 190d! Want a wagon instead.....

Yeah, it's a bit late to be noticing these details. Yeah, I probably paid too much also. I think the mileage is ok because the mileage was 130K when the cable was replaced and current is 142K. However, it has the dreaded white button on the driver's window so who the hell knows?! I worry about the work done on the head and what might have happened to cause the repair.

Thanks for the replies

Kevin

It's an electric cruise control actuator.

Congrats on winning the car! Hopefully it's only a minor thing and everything does work smoothly.

That's a neat little Mercedes! I like it!

Most of the time the plastic ball sockets can be replaced with steel ones, although I'm speaking of generic fittings that may not be the same thing Mercedes used. If they ARE just ball socket rod ends you'd only need the ball size and the thread to use the same rod or you could make up a whole new rod. The fittings, ball ends and sockets, can be had from sources like McMaster-Carr or your favorite alternative. Locally too in many cases. Our local Ace hardware has tons of stuff like that.
