'94 W124: K1 spring? and Trans modulator adjust?
Ok, before everyone jumps... I DID search for the K1 spring and the search wouldn't take "K1". It said it was too short of a word.
I am a diesel guy(Earlier 300Dturbos) but I bought a '94 E320 wagon gasser for my wife. I posted this on the technical information and help and got no response. I know that alot of you fellow diesel owners do alot more of your own work on your cars. I decided to ask in this forum. First question. Is this K1 spring applicable to my '94 trans? With 115,000 mi, it has some flair between 2-3 if you are on it. 1-3 and 3-4 shifts are positive but smooth. I just serviced it today, drained the torque convertor and changed the filter. I found NO debris in the pan nor was the fluid burned. The trans is NOT electronically controlled. Can I put this modification in my '94 E320? Second question. On the earlier diesels that I owned, The modulator was adjustable with removing the rubber cap and re-setting the modulator. On the '94, the cap is white plastic with a small tab on it that looks like you could adjust it without removing the cap. I looked up the modulator on a parts site and it showed the inside of the cap having "teeth" that looked like they would hold the small metal "T" so you could turn it without removing the cap.(kind of a long sentence!) SO.... will the K1 kit do its thing in my trans? Is the modulator adjustable without removing the cap? If NOT.... will the earlier rubber cap fit so you can fine tune without going through a bunch of plastic caps? This is a GREAT site for people like us who want to enjoy our cars.....from the drivers seat AND under the hood! Thanks to all that respond, Chris __________________
