Just loaded the Bosio nozzle test for my Jetta Tdi
 

I thought you all might like to see how the new Bosio nozzles worked on my Jetta. Yea I know this is a Mercedes place, but a diesel is a diesel. Made a huge difference.

Even more than I thought it would do.

I just ordered a diesel purge kit, some tranny shift levers, intake rings, etc.... Pretty much anything you have convinced me that needed changing.


I'm hoping I can go another 25K miles before doing the injector nozzles (125,000 at the moment), but I have read the writeup about a dozen times!! Mine doesn't smoke like the VW, but I hope it never gets to that point.

I hope you realize that with videos and a website like you have has earned you yet another customer. Keep up the good work!!

Wow that Jetta sure had some tired/worn out nozzles! Bosio nozzles rock!

I still proclaim to have one of the smoothest running 617's in existence :D And its without any nozzle work. On diesel its steady and quiet, on veg its pretty much just a compression gas engine. ;)

Those jetta tdi's look cool, if I had $$ I'd buy one to add to the collection (which is currently 1)....this could become a problem in the future if I actually make some $$ :D

How many miles were on the old injectors?

I'd be interested in seeing the mpg difference between the Bosio and Bosch nozzles.

237k miles on the original injector and nozzles. Just to keep perspective, I have owned the car since new and have extremely detailed records down to the amount of fuel I get each time I fill up. The amount of power that I have now allows me to take corners in 3rd gear that I previously had to drop to second to do.

The car pulls very hard and solid. Keep in mind that all I did was use the stock replacements, not any that were desinged for increased power.

I just purchased Bozio nozzles for my 83 300cd and will install them with new heat shields next Saturday...Will report back about the results....

I l ike those older VW diesels. My 300D doesn't smoke unlesss I really try ...
Does that mean my injectors are fine as is???

And help me start my car....!

Seems to make quite a difference. The oil smoking is probably due to worn valve guides. So my question.

Was the time interval between starts the same, IF the valve guides were leaking they would allow the oil to drip into the cylinders, explaining some of the smoke. If the time between starts was the same then the improvement is a lot.
Did you allow the same amount of time or was there a large difference.

I'd assume it was quite a while as he had to tape it with the old ones, take them out, do all the work on them, reinstall them, and then restart it. Though if he worked quickly it may have not been all that long. That smoke did look like diesel smoke though, oil smoke is either blue or dark black....plus the difference in the amount was huge.

Yup, this Diesel Giant guy's stuff is infectious!

I did the injectors in my '92 Jetta diesel about 3 yrs ago - made a huge difference. Nice little car - this was the last year that North American Jettas were made in Germany and it's a really simple car to work on - nice basic diesel, no electronics and none of the vacuum and climate control system compleixity that I am learning on my 300sd.

Of course, at 68hp it's kinda challenged up long freeway hills but around town it's much nippier than the 300sd - and a 5 speed is fun. Wish my 300sd was a 5 speed......

I thought they had about 78 hp? Maybe I am mixing up my engines..... :dizzy2:

Last word on my Jetta
 

The 92 was the last year of the "old" pre TDI 1.6L turbo engine.

After that they went to the TDI installed in a (for the US and Canada) made in Mexico body. Horrid problems with body and electronics quality from 1993 to 1995.

Avoid 93-95 Jettas.... bad news.
