Only if it's filtered and de-watered.

Diesel Prices Going Further Up With ULSD?

Diesel prices is high enough as it is. I am worry that the oil companies will use this as an excuse to further raise the price of diesel. I guess that $4/gallon is not far away. Despite what the economists said, I got a feeling that the phasing in of ULSD is not going to be smooth .

An OM61x will run on oil-based paint, for a while...

It'd be really strange if B100 treated pump seals better than the commercial OEM fuel. It'd certainly push more people towards biodiesel, with higher diesel prices and ULSD causing leaks.

Just another reason to apply a wrench to the car, and something to gripe about.
Sounds like a win-win to me!

Seriously though, a little soy with each tank should slick it up, shouldn't it?

I'd think that a half gallon of canola oil with each tank would replace any lubricants that are lost in the new fuel.
Just buy a gallon and toss it in the trunk and bring it out at the pump.
Then watch the mouths of other customers bounce off the ground when they watch you fuel up.
A half gallon of corn oil shouldn't cause any power or MPG loss in a 22 gallon tank.

My next tank is going to be a trial of blending veg and RUG.

We've been using ULSD in the UK for years. No problems that I've heard of.

I know, but they just aren't happy unless they have something to worry about.

Running B20 would solve any problems of lubrication in ULSD, and it costs the same in many cases. Better for the environement, better for the car, and it relieves some of the demand for foriegn oil.

Thanks nhdoc,

It's good to have some actual info. There may be lot's of good reasons to use BD and/or veggie oil, but this isn't it. At the end of the world, about the only things left alive will be cockroaches and my 617 injection pump. It will still outlive me, the rest of the car, and western civilization (probably in that order) with or without ULSD.
