MB Quart sale on 5 1/4's........

I know this should be in Audio, but these are awesome upgrades for W123's rear deck, at low prices

and no one really read audio threads too much.

onlinecarstereo.com has MB QUART speakers on sale now for 50-60 % off
if anyone needs to upgrade their sound.
I have 4 of these in my 300, and got them from these guys. That's how I get their emailing...good service awesome sounding speakers!!!!

Is that 50% to 60% off the price or off the speakers? I don't want to buy just half a speaker.

MB Quarts are great speaks for their 5.25" size
Recently replaced a pair of Kickers that completely sucked

rg2098 04-26-2006 12:41 PM

Well I don't have anything to say about MB Quart, but replacing the original speakers with the factory size made my original head unit sound good. I used Pioneers all around under the factory covers, you would never know the difference.

will the 5.25 quarts fit the rear deck with no cutting?

Yes, but I had to remove the plastic cup under the speaker. The deck stayed intact.

Speakers

What size fits the front of a W123? Seems to me I read somewhere that it is an odd size and that 5-1/4 is too big for the front.

Jeremy

4" front dash, 5" in the rear deck (5.25 work which is the standard size)

i see that they have 3 1/2's for sale also. Can those work for the front somehow?

I have the MB QUART 5 1/4 's in the rear deck of my 300D.

No cutting. Sound is awesome.

Also have the 4" in the front dash. No cutting.

Got all 4 from this web store.

ForcedInduction 04-28-2006 12:40 AM

So I take it that 5-1/2" works in back and 4" works in front without any cutting, right?

Quarts and pints

I just ordered a pair of 5-1/2 inch MB Quarts for the back and a pair of 4 inch MB Pints for the front. We'll see how they work out. I pulled the passenger side speakers just to see what the factory gave us. "Inexpensive" is the polite word. 1960's clock radio speakers is what they look like. Anything would be an improvement.

Looks like the driver's side front will be a little challenging. Anyone had experience? Can the factory's speaker be popped out by pressing those little clips from underneath or must the gauge cluster come out? I'd rather not disturb the gauges if I don't have to (they all work, after all -- who knows what might happen if I touch them  ).

I'm about to order as well,,, the part numbers are DKE 110 for the front, and DKE 113 for the rear?

Jeremy5848 07-16-2006 11:28 AM

Yes, that's what I ordered. The DKE 113 5-1/2's are on sale, $55 a pair and the DKE 110 4's are $89 a pair. Interesting that the 4's are rated to handle more power and are more expensive than the larger 5-1/2's but it shouldn't hurt except for revealing the limitations of the factory Becker stereo.

I cannot wait to hear how you guys like these new speakers! I have been looking for new ones off and on and havent really made the plunge... at these prices the plunge is easy! ESP> if they sound noticeable BETTER than the stock ones... which wouldnt surprise me. I am using a Sony headunit CD/MP3 so my speakers tend to sound overpowered unless im listening to simple acoustic type music.
