Nitrous in diesels?

There are frequently posts that talk about getting more hp out of the MBz diesels and the queries are answered (1) Get you car up to peak performance before you start thinking of extra performance and (2) these cars weren't intended to be high performance, except as regards mileage.

I read an article in the supermarket about nitrous and how it works in gas powered cars by essentially increasing the net oxygen flow into the engine, thereby allowing more fuel to be sprayed in to increase HP. There was one V-8 that they presented (I think a chevy engine) that put out 905 hp. So I got to thinking could you do the same thing in a diesel? Has anyone tried that? Some aspects of the MBz diesel would make them attractive for that, especially the turbos, with the strengthening of internal components for the turbocharger. You'd have to adjust fuel delivery, and maybe with the turbo too, there'd just be too much for the engine. But maybe someone has some ideas/opinions/experience. This will be a nice follow on to my long thread about the putative 240SD.

I think the answer to nitrous in a diesel is propane. There's lots of companies that make propane injection kits, Bullydog for example. Here's a thread I have saved about it for when I make my own some day.

Yep I have seen nitrous used on a diesel, only in a Cummins though, very different then our engines.

Propane injection provides little to no gain with our engines.

Nitrous is used on the Cummins dragster as "smoke control".

Check out how hot this thing gets!
