Broken Injector Spring

This is on the '81 300D. I got my Bosio nozzles on Thursday, and was so excited to put them in today, but things are never so easy.

I got to the injector that was making all the noise, the spring had broken. Anybody know where I can get just the spring? Rather not spend $55 for an entire new injector.

Also, when this first happened, I called around Denver trying to find someone who would rebuild the injectors . . . everybody I talked to told me that they won't, and that it is simpler just to order new ones. Because I now have to replace this spring, I'm going to have to have these injectors balanced. I don't have a garage at the moment, so building a homemade pop tester is pretty much not an option. Anybody know of some local Denver guys who can pop test/balance my injectors, or someone I can send them to outside of Denver?

I know TomJ was doing this for a while, but near as I can tell, he may still be in China?

Thanks,
Eric

Sounds like you'll need a tester yourself... You can get them off ebay, but there over 100 bucks...

Depending on how much spring is left you can put shims in...

Spring is Dead

Unfortunately, the spring broke in half . . . that would be like .25" worth of shims . . .

I'm gonna hit up the Pulll N Save yard tomorrow and see if I can find a used one to pull, but it seems the injectors are usually the first to go at the yards.

Anybody have a pop tester they'd loan? I haven't check the tool loan thread yet . . . I'll do that.

I'm sure Tom has a ton of springs, as I've donated 19 old used injectors to his cause. Unfortunately I have no spare injectors anymore, but there is usually a set to be pulled from one or more of the U-pull-its in the Denver area.

Yup, Tom had springs

Yeah, Tom had springs. He replaced that spring for me, and balanced the set for a really reasonable price. I had rebuilt my injectors with Bosios, but haven't been happy with them. There is some intermittant nailing. Tom's gonna throw a set of his 240 nozzles in (with the pre-combustion pintacle) and see how they do.

I'll report back and let y'all know how they do.

Thanks,
Eric
