2006 E320 cdi speed limiter

Does anyone know how to take the speed limiter off of a E320 cdi, it stops at 130 mph. Someone must have a program. Thanks again.

I assume you live in the US of A? Where our max *legal* speed limit is 70?

The speed limiter is part of the computer. I am guessing you'd need the car computer from a euro car...or a really good geek, to set yours up with no speed limiter.....

Why do you need to exceed 130mph? Thats like the absolute top speed of cop cars....need a few extra mph's to exceed that?

85mph, BTW...

There are some aftermarket tuners that can change settings like that. But I'm not sure if there are any made for the CDI.

Before you do take off that limiter, make sure your car can handle it. Most limiters are in place because of the tires top speed rating. I can think of little worse than a 130mph blowout.

Yeah, I need to remove the speed limiter on my 76 300d. For some reason it stops accelerating at about 80 mph and starts shaking and making unhappy sounds.

Haha thanks for the suggestions guys! Yeah my 76 300D also has the dreaded 80mph speed limiter. Does anyone know what the euro computers have the limiter set at or if they even have a speed limiter?

If you toy with the limiter, then you will probably void any engine warranty you may have had. I suspect the one that came with the '76 300D is probably past its term now, so go ahead and tweak it.

That's a joke, JS. There is no electronic engine management on that car. Governer in the IP is all.

On any vehicle it is understood the moment you mod it you are your own warranty station.

Renntech has some neat stuff for the CDI's. I wouldn't be surprised of Kleeman or Brabus couldn't help you out either, the usual companies.

Make sure you dump those crappy stock H speed rated tires. Cheap MB, they are to cheap to include some nice V rated tires.

W211's look real sick with 19in AMG or Brabus wheels, throw on a nice set of V,Z or higher rated tires and you are good to go.

I typically travel 80-90 on I91. Open straight road, as long as there are no cops traffic really flys. I'm not the one doing the passing at those speeds...

Its rediculous how slow the speed limits on this country are, they should be 80 nation wide.

I agree....in germany the normal "limit" when there is one is about 80-82mph equivalent....and when its "no limit" people all go about 120-130. And its a vastly more densely populated and smaller country.

Here with our massive open spaces we all go sub-80 half the time. In more crowded areas the limit should be 75 to 80, and in the wide open USA areas it should be 90+ or no limit at all....

i dont want to think about how much more fuel the us would consume by driving 80+ mph. not the right time to bring such an idea up. i agree it would be nice, but how much lower can the average amerian car gas mileage go.

I was just thinking about that. How can even the Europeans even afford to purchase their massively taxed fuel to drive 120 - 130 mph all day considering the amount of power required to sustain such velocities?

Besides, your average American driver is a moron. At least in these parts:

2/3rds out of all the people living in my area NEVER use their signals. About 1/3 weave, and 1/2 drive SUV's that are mid - large in size at 80 - 100 mph. 1/4 people are using their cell-phones while hogging the left lane.

Every other day a new person tries to kill me by running me off the road. Some of these people are the types you'd see during a session of "World's Wildest Police Videos", as they literally run side to side with you, get in front and slam the brakes trying to cause you to ram into them. Happens about twice a year, under those circumstances, ALWAYS at a lane merge. ALWAYS due to someone trying to overtake EVERY SINGLE car in line from the back of the pack. ALWAYS WOT.

I decided to count and formulate the probabilities. Pretty staggering. Well, cram a bunch of mice together in tight quarters, and they will claw and clamor. I wish I could consider humans evolving further than scruffy rodentia.

Gotta get the **** outta this hole. But I love my state for the White Mountains. I'm torn. New Hampshire did NOT used to be this way. This was not the state I grew up in.

BLAH BLAH BLAH! I've finally lost it, right?
Sorry for going off on an unrelated rant.

No reason to alter the limiter on the car. In Europe the limiter is ALSO set to 130 mph on all of their cars except for the AMG models. Thanks to the Gentleman's Agreement, the maximum topspeed for any German production vehicle is limited to 155 mph.

Top speed of S550 with 388 PS? 130 mph. Top speed of C30CDI AMG with 227 hp? 155 mph.

If I want to go faster in mine, all I have to do is turn a few wrenches for the effect of a newly flashed ECU. But I can just as easily revert those settings by my own hand, back to stock.

Well most Europeans drive little cars and don't forget the autobahn does have slower lanes.

Especialy in the populated areas they have speed limits.

But on the open roads, those with the money to buy fast cars can afford to burn the fuel.

btw the 2007 S600 has the speed limiter set at only 130mph. After paying $130k+ for such a car I would be absolutly rip ()&)(& if I were driving it on the autobahn and a lesser car passed me.
