$300 for a fuel injector install?

That's what my mechanic told me if I went to an injector specialist to get the job done. Does this sound right? Does my IP have to be calibrated at the same time? Could I ask these guys to turn the IP up? If I do that, should I get an EGT meter right away?

I have a feeling I should just rent the tool myself and ask my mechanic to do it since his labor is usually really cheap.

Please be specific. Is he saying that for $300 he will take all the injectors out and have them serviced or what? For one injector it is kinda steep unless he is talking about replacing the injector

Oh sorry about that.

Install of new Bosio's.

Does that include the injectors and the labor or is that just labor and misc parts with you providing the injectors?

Hatterasguy 05-01-2006 01:25 PM

So they are installing new nozzels? I am assuing you are paying someone to do the whole job, ie remove the injectors, install the new nozzels, then shim the injectors, then re install?

If so $300 sounds about right.

Oh yeah I bought the injectors, guess you didn't see me in the Bosio thread.

Damn... $300 =( that's a lot... worth it but still alot. I wish I had the skills like some people on this forum to do it myself. Oh well.

I'll update everyone on the performance boost after the install! ^_^

Shop labor and misc parts sounds ok to me. For instance, when I remove my injectors I have some misc hoses that will need to be replaced and shimming might have to be done. So for that price, if it means all you bring the cash and injectors it might not be too bad depending on shop labor rates/

Well the shop is trying to run a business. It will probably eat up an hour or two of his day replacing those nozzels.

I'm just not used to paying for upgrades... I used to just drive cheap throw away cars into the ground like my 350,000 miles dodge caravan

I put that dent in the side falling asleep on the road... never did that again thankfully!

Thanks for all the info, just like to make sure I'm not getting gyped.
