617 harmonic balancer question
i have a '79 617 turbo which died and a 78 non turbo i swapped into the car
the turbo has a sensor on the timing marker i believe its for the tach. the balancer also has slight differences the largest being it has a rod protruding from it i belive this is the other part to the tach. Is it magnetic? my question is can i swap the balancer from the turbo to the non along with the timing marker and sensor? |
i dont know from experience, but seeing as how the cranks are different with a longer nose on the turbo car, my best guess is no. i think that the hb on the turbo car is quite a bit bigger also.

I hope you left the non-turbo engine turboless. YOU WILL BREAK THE CRANK. The non-turbo cranks are NOT hardened. You can't even turn down a turbo crank with out it failing.
