What can I do if I don't have a Powder Coating Oven?
What can I do if I don't have a Powder Coating Oven? I can't imagine finding a place to make 400 degrees except in a household oven, but the idea of releasing toxic fumes into the house makes me nervous----any brainstorms...

Sears sells a electronic powder coating machine
not sure exactly how it works, but you may want to look into it.
I saw it in their online catalog they send me every so often. if you need part numbers or something just let me know and I will look them up/ John |

I two would not consider using the wifes oven either. I am not into self assisted suicide for starters. There are tons of old stoves out there for free with the ovens still working. Depends where you live and ease of intercepting one on the way to a junkyard. Also to get a 240 volt feed to it might get prohibitive or may not.Access to a dryer plug is okay as well as you are only using the oven elements. Anyways not to be done in house as you are melting and flowing plastic out. Gotta smell and leave residual fumes. Do you visuilize doing quite a bit of powder coating? People will pay for the service as well. You seem to have the electrostatic kit and various colors can be obtained reasonably from shopping around. You might want to set up an oven in the garage or in your basement with a good vent system linked right into the oven vent on top of the stove. It might make a fair buck when word of mouth gets around your area. Just check out any local powder coating shops for their rates. On second thought do use your wifes oven when she is out and describe how your cooked goose turned out. Remember to post all the nice adjectives she uses as well. I can almost guarantee one sided comunication will increase in your household for awhile. Thats of course dependant on your still residing there.

Of course he is right - the smell will drive you out of the house. If you do pick up an old stove. First, get an electric and Second get one with the self cleaning feature - this gives you the heat and has a fan to keep temps even. Third, don't do it anywhere inside a home.

On Eastwood's website, I saw them using infrared heat lamps. It might take a little longer than a regular oven but definitely safer than doing it in a closed house.
