bigger wheels than stock may bump you into another class where you don't stand a chance.

You can really see the body roll in post 15 and 17 of the photos. Anyone there can attest to how hard I drove Tabitha. I was amazed by the wet traction I had. It took a lot more then I thought to finally spin her.

If you guys want to see it someone took video most of the time and I should have it to post later this week.

consitancey and smoothness mean more than brute speed like many forms of racing picking the right line at the right speed gets you the best time, been years since I ran an autocross event.

Yep, take a look at Schumacher in his prime. The car just flows around the track, truely amazing to see.

He is consistant to, will lap a track 20 times within a tenth of a second.

just goes to show the benzes all handle excellently.

i would never have believed you could lift a wheel in a corner if i hadnt seen the pics.

i bet the tires now grip so much better than what they had available back then... i bet with the original tires you couldnt have gotten that much grip to lift a tire... maybe.

looks like good fun. i want to do it.

i would take the 500sec.

MB's are not as sporty as say a BMW. But they do have tons of grip and will move when asked.

Fittapaldi a while ago also

Guys,

"Yep, take a look at Schumacher in his prime. The car just flows around the track, truely amazing to see.

I stood at the top of a long hill at Watkins Glen in the late 70's watching a F1 race. The track flattened out (negative G) as it took a 90* left turn. I watched Fittapaldi go lap after lap up that hill, put the car into a sideways slide, accelerate while still sliding, and miss the guardrail by less than 2 feet. Probably at 60-70 mph.

The amazing thing about the Glen back then was how close you could get. There was a guard-rail, 10 feet, then a "snow fence" to keep spectators away. I got to see Mario Andretti stuff one of those weird Elf-Terrell 6 wheel cars into the guard-rail. Then you could walk over to the back straight. Oh the sound of the Ferrari 12 cylinders back then....

And 603's sound pretty good too!

Chuck

Wow....if one has a weak sway bar end wouldn't that be where you'd find out? I drive my car real hard and it hasn't broken yet though, I really plow out of driveways and into turns sometimes, and so far its been fine.....hmmm...eh, if it broke I guess we'd have a SWAY BAR EPIC II

I definatley want to try and show up for that next year, it looks like great fun, I bet my dad's SD would do great, new sway bar and front shocks, and new rear HD springs and shocks on it. Mine would be diving and rolling though, since I have weak shocks.....whatever, I'd still try!

A bunch of my collage friends went to the glen to see the F1 in about 1979 or 80, I should have gone. I think it was the last year.

the six wheeler was moderately successful. it was done to reduce frontal area. i think it was tricky with braking. no abs back then and it was not easy to keep one or more of the front wheels from locking up.

then too, it was two more tires to change in a pit stop... though i dont think they changed them much then except for wet to dry.

def cool though. i have a little model of it that i picked up at the us gp.
