These Dastardly W115s! HELP
Alright I had water in my W115 a few months ago. Trace it to the rubber boot that protects the wiring as it goes from the body to the doors. Fixed. Now there isn't much water, but still some! The lower corner of the passenger footwell consistently fills up with a bit of water whenever I run the hose over it. I thought it might be the gasket around the windows..so I taped it up to see if it would stop the water...nope..finally I think I traced it to the gutters around the passenger side of the windshield. I spray a little bit of water in there and it begins to pool up inside. Where is the water from this gutter supposed to drain? I have been driving my Subaru the past three days trying to figure out where the heck this water is coming from. Any suggestions of why it would continually show up in this particular area? Its right under the rubberized mat they put on the passenger footwell, and in the far right corner nearest to the firewall. Any help before I have the only custom W115 freshwater swimming pool?

Hello,
I need to update my sig as I just sadly sold my 76 300D but I had the same problem as you when I first got the car. I thought it was comming from a door seal as well (rear passenger pool on floor) and tried covering the door as well to no avail. Who ever had the car before me parked it under a pin tree for what must have been forever. The gutters were completely clogged not to mention seals etc. Also for some reason teh gutter was smashed in on the passenger side. I took the spray nozzel on the hose and sprayed in there and all around the car for about 30 mins until all of the crap that was in there stopped comming out (handfulls). After that I did not have a leak any more. As to the question of why (I couldn't tell you (rusted out...I doubt it as there is no rust on what used to be my car) I'm assuming there is some sort of seam just below that on the body trim that is held on similarily to the other trim peices and since it sits and polls in a clogged gutter it has time to seep into those connectors and down into the floor pan. Take a look if it is clogged clean it. If it is not clogged clean it anyway. I did mine again with more riggor a few weeks after that and got even more junk that had accumlated in small orfices near the bottom that I had not gotten before. I hope this helps you as well and ejoy your car. I regretted selling my car before I even did it. I've made it through the denial stage (drank straight past the anger stange and am somwhere between depression and acceptance right now

Damn
German engineering my A$$! The routing of the water in this vehicle is the most foolish I've seen, dependent on intricate drains that can be easily clogged. The gutters above the windows are clean, yet when I spray the hose over the car water still enters through this far right corner. Yet on the driver's side, perfectly dry!! Does anyone have a list of the different drains that may need to be unclogged. Also, I drilled tiny holes that I could easily refill next to the area where the water is coming in, yet it still seaps in. WTF??

The attached pictures show the gutters. They are on both sides of the car and run from the the rear window down towards the hood. They have an annoying tendency to clog with leave, dirt, pine needles, moss, etc. causing such wonderful things as rust and leaks. The 2nd picture I circled a crucial point where I have had water seep in before. Might try some silicon on that point or the other side of the window (which is how I fixed my leak). Good luck, you'll need it.

oh yeah. i guess i would have called them air dams, but i have no idea the proper name.
they do come off though. i think you have to remove the rubber in the middle. filling all gaps with silicone may stop your leaks, but it is best to clean everything before siliconning. tom w
