Thumbs up searching all Craig's lists

I have found this search technique useful to search all craig's lists at once:

mercedes diesel -directory site:craigslist.org

I insert this into google and get em all at once!

Good time to remind folks of these 'check lots of craiglist' at once sites.

Crazedlist won`t work with Internet Explorer. will work with FireFox.

Another good craigslist search site to add to the list is:

www.statewidelist.com

Very easy to use and quick.

How I found two of my Mercedes (and lots more stuff)

I'll be checking the other ones you mentioned, but this one I like for browsing and for alerts...

listnr.org

same site as

adlistener.org

from the site...

get craiglist alerts automatically!

If you are in a hurry, just click on browse to start searching. The interface should be very familiar to you.

Key features:
  • search multiple locations at once
  • image previews
  • save items you like
  • remove unwanted items
  • remember your searches
  • receive alerts with new matching items as they arrive
  • live a long meaningful life

I've been hunting for a 220D for the last few months and thought I would share how I finally grabbed one.

As you know, Craigslist is designed for local searches only so it can get pretty tedious trying to search multiple cities for multiple keywords.

My solution was to use searchtempest.com to search every city in the USA for the term "220D".

The Search Tempest site is rather difficult to navigate and it's hard to know which cars you have already viewed so I recommend using the RSS feed function.

After you have typed in your keyword and search parameters you will be taken to the results page. On the top right of that page you will see "Feeds For This Search".

Once you download the OPML for your particular search, you can then import that file into your RSS reader of choice. I'm using NetNewsWire for the Mac.

Once you're set up you'll be monitoring every 220D (or whatever you happen to be hunting for) for sale all over the country.

Even if you're not ready to buy it can be pretty fun to see what's out there.

Good luck.

Sorry this is slightly off topic, but if anyone is looking for near-OE reflective warning triangles, there is a website currently selling them for $20. I have no affiliation, but I wanted to post somewhere in DD in case you didn't see my thread in Parts for Sale:

want to search across all of craig's list for a specific model using google? It takes two steps...
First, type this into your search box:
site:craigslist.org mercedes "220d"
Second, change the date range. Under the entry box at top click on "search tools". the line below that will say something like "any time". Change that pull down to read "past month".

Bookmark the resulting search page. You might want to run though those ads first and then change the date range to be the past week.

Row52 | 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300

There's a 1985 coupe at PnP Sacramento, I will be going there tomorrow if anyone would like me to take a look or snap a picture or two. I am grabbing probably the radiator, a power steering line, a 5 cyl glow plug harness, and a throttle linkeage.

CDI shopping spreadsheet

This sheet is open to editing by everyone. You can add new cars to it. If you do not have access to the data card for the car, just enter the VIN and I will find the info. and post it.

When entering a new line item, copy and paste the formulas in columns G & H to get the cost/year of service to 300k. I used 20k / year. Even if this is not what you drive, it will still give a comparative cost.
