Sunroof Motor
1983 300d
I have 12v at switch; 12v at connector to motor in trunk (when someone is operating the switch). No sound from motor, motor not operating. Should I assume that the motor needs to be replaced? Is there anything else I should check?

no it can also be a jam in the trans case. disconect it and pull the motor to bench test it fist because the sunroof motors are otrageousy priced. you may find that its just jamed up and needs the cable assy. cleaned.

test motor by grounding the case, and putting power to the terminal
I bet.
I have not done this, just a guess here. John |

First, check the fuse.
Then, you can check the motor by applying voltage to it directly. Roll another car up to the trunk and run some wires. Or, it could be a bad ground, as mentioned. |

Sunroof Motor
See if you can manualy open the sun roof with the proper socket at the motor, there is s red knob there that you can turn counter clock wise to get it open.I know that with my car i had the same problem ...But after doing this little job everything started working just fine.It might be just a little stuck!
