What is wrong with the cruise control
 

Good morning all.
I own a 300 SD 1983,and for a few weeks now the cruise control has been acting border line dangerous.It does not always engage,nor will it disengage when it does come on.It will only disengage with the brake pedal.
I have also noticed that if it does engage and it happens that i have to resume my previous speed it will accellarate at a higher speed!
I have no idea where to look or what to start looking for.:confused:

The cruise control amplifier needs to be rebuilt.

The unit is an aluminum box, slightly larger than a pack of cigarettes, that sits next to the steering column above the driver's feet. It has a 14 pin connector in the bottom.

What i did on both my w124 and W126 was, take it out, go to a salvage yard and ask for a box of them (match plugs) to test and try for around $25-$35.
