84 300TD climate control/cruise control puzzel

The interconnectedness and intracsies of this machine is a constatnt amazement to me. I had recently noticed that my cruise control would back off about 5 mph immediatly after I set it. I was puzzeled, but did not get up tiight abour it. I simply adjsuted for the discrepency as I set the control.

I had been having difficulty with the climate control for some time. I would get either extreem tempurature but nothing else. I would get full cold at any setting until all at once I would get full heat.

When I put the wagon in the shop for brake and allignment work, I asked the guy to check out the climate control. He rebuilt it. It worked fine. then I noticed that the cruise control was also working right again.

All was fine for a couple of weeks and then my climate control was back to only full cold and full heat and the cruise control was again backing off 5 mph after I set it.

Before buying this car I would have just said it was coincidence. But over the past 3 years and 60,000 miles on my first MB, I have acquired an appreciatiion for the intracasies in these machines. But where is the connection here?

Guess this really was just a coincidence

The climate controll issue seems to have been a bad manifold hose on the AC.
The cruise control varible speed seems to be sporadic, I still don't have any idea on it.

Thanks anyway.

Usually it's the cruise amp that causes it to act flaky. This site has some good info:
