ANYBODY LIVE IN THE DENVER AREA? Car check needed

I've put a deposit on a f-250 diesel of course from a car dealer just outside of Denver and would like someone to look at it before I submit the rest of the money.

If not, anybody know of a good inspection guy that could look at it?

Thanks.

Cheers

If the dealer is available this sunday, I can take a look at it. I'm leaving town for Oklahoma thursday-monday and I work 10a-6:30p weekdays.

Tom J might also be able to help, if he is feeling better.

What's special about this truck? I'm sure there are plenty of 99' 250's running around a few hundred miles closer to you.

dude go to www.thedieselstop.com they are primarily for ford powerstrokes and IDI engines... they will probably more help than here.. not that the members here know there stuff but they will be able to tell you the torque specs for the nut that holds the cup holder in faster than greased lightening

That looks like a beautiful truck, Bill.

And the price is also terrific.

Glad you took our advice and found an excellent used truck for a fraction of the cost of a new vehicle.

Are you planning on picking it up or shipping it?

Thanks Brian. Hope I got a fair deal. Financing isn't my thing but the payments are for only 2 years and I kept the TD. Couldn't find one around here with that low mileage. Most have over 150K and the sellers want $15k and up.

I weighed the difference between me picking it up [around $700 total cost...plane ticket, fuel, motel, eats, etc.] and shipping. Shipping will run $800 so it is cheaper to ship. Only $100 difference plus a week off work. Shipping no doubt cheaper than picking it up myself. I would love to go to Denver and drive it home!!

Cheers,

Bill

They said they are closed sunday. Sorry, but with my work schedule, prepping for the trip, and other duties, I won't have any free time until June.

The only major issue we have with the 7.3L in the F-450's at work is the injector harness under the valve covers coming undone. I went on a service call last thursday and lost half the cylinders in the 18,000lb service truck. That was a fun trip home.

Somebody has done a great job with this forum. The diesel stop forum is not very user friendly but I finally did get it figured out.

Thanks for the help guys. Its good to know I've got friends here I can count on.

Cheers,

Bill

These guys are a about 2 miles from my house. I actually bought my beater Jeep from them about 5 years ago. FWIW, he deals in a large volume of auction cars. I thought he was fair to deal with, but he seems to turn over cars quickly and doesn't really know anything about them.

I just looked at e-bay and saw it ended on 5/17 with a "buy it now," did you buy it?

I believe that he was the only bidder. He provided the deposit but would like someone to take a look at the truck prior to sending the balance. He's not going to see it in person.

Well, I can give him the number of my non-MB mechanic who is only a few miles away. This is the guy who I use to fix my Jeep. He may be willing/able to give it an inspection:

Automotive Performance Spec.
303-627-7650, or 7651

I believe he is only open M-F too.

Thanks Craig. I'll give him a call Monday morning and see if he'll check it out for me. Who shall I ask for?

The dealer told me he has his own diesel mechanic who went over the truck. He was honest enough to tell me he bought it at auction.

I'll get back to you and let you know how things work. Thanks.

Cheers,

Bill
