Always good to see someone keep a car that will take care of it instead of some idiot who would drive her into the ground. Ditto glad...
Ditto on the pics too! Cheers, Bill |

Hmmm,
I would dump it and get a 1998-2000 Volvo V70 wagon and have money left over and a nicer newer car. I love Mercedes cars but I think their wagons are poorly designed and way overvalued. If you want something older you could get a 240 wagon and have a LOT of money left over and still have a superior wagon. My 1988 240 wagon gets 25mpg easily and is quite comfortable to drive with plenty of low end power. Of course I would hold onto it until you can get the top price. |

3100.00? wow, at that price, you can afford to put some repairs in it
and still be able to sell it for a good amount and buy a PERFECT one. if it were me, I would look around for a perfect one, while driving this one, get it detailed and prepare to sell it on ebay or craiglist... or here. and then get the perfect one.
however you did not really say how good an example this one is. give us some details and pictures. expect to pay around 8-10K for a perfect one, so ask high for your current one and see how it goes. did we mention we want to see pictures? great find. ps. Please post some pictures. John |

"Poorly designed"?!?! I beg to differ. I currently own a black 85 300TD, and previously I had a 1980... They are VERY well-designed cars, were far ahead of their time, and still hold up well today. No-nonsense, durable, reliable cars. And judging from the comments here, and from escalating prices for these wagons everywhere, I believe your opinion is in the minority. I say keep it, take care of it, and it will take good care of you. Mike

I am definately keeping this car. I read above where someone said the design was poor and overvalued???? That person must be nuts. The 123 wagon was probably one of THE best cars of the century.
On an update: I bought 4 new goodrich from tirerack.com last week. I am taking her in this week for my first service: check brakes, shocks, front end, change all fluids and valve adjustment and change gas filters. Am I missing anything else? I hope this doesnt turn into big money. Oh and one other thing, I need the AC checked as it does not blow cold. |

Glad you're keeping the car. A/C can be expensive to fix or may just need a charge. Don't let them talk you into converting it to 134 if it hasn't been already. R-12 cools much better. Mine was converted to 134 before I bought the car and I plan on switching it back to 12. And while you're changing all the fluids be sure and bleed /flush the brakes. Cheers, Bill |
