high idle in park
 

Greetings,
I have a 74 240D automatic.
Starts and runs fine, but after warming up the idle speed goes up really high when I put it in park. Put it back in gear and idle returns to normal. Makes for a very hard shift out of park.
The inside idle adjustment has been disconnected.

Any ideas?

Re-connect the inside idle adjustment
 

It sounds like the idle is all the way up with the cockpit control disabled. Hook it back up and you'll probably be ok.

I think the manual idle adjustment is one of the better features on the 240D. I wish MB put them on all their diesels.
