Wanna get rid of soot in your oil?....Video

This is one of the best filters I have ever seen for removing soot in the oil. They are mostly for trucks, but I want to adapt one to a MB and see if I can get the oil to stay honey color.

Look at the "demo" video

I emailed them a while ago, wondering how to put this on my benz, but they never responded.

Someone put a filter like this one in line w/ the IP oil line, I forget who tho.

Serious overkill, but a fun toy I guess. Oil in the 603 already stays honey colored for 100 miles or so...

Anybody know how much they want for one? Might be an idea to have a portable unit - filter the oil once a week to freshen it up a bit. Would be handy for multi car households.

I sent them an email asking for details and prices for my car and I almost immediately got a form email asking me to give them a call... I guess I can do that, but a simple pricelist would have sufficed.

I emailed them about a month ago, and eventually received a form letter which included prices:

Quote:
The regular price for the FS-2500 for a PSD (7.3) or a Chevy/GMC with a Duramax or a 2002 or older Dodge with a 5.9 Cummins is $529.00 for the full kit (2003 and newer Dodge with 5.9 Cummins and the 6.0 PSD is $39.00 more for a mounting bracket). We are running a special for Diesel Power Magazine readers, the discount is $100.00 off the regular price or $429.00 each (or $458 for 6.0 PSD 2003 and newer Dodge with 5.9 Cummins). This is a limited time offer so don’t delay.
I might install one if I had an extra $500 floating around.

yeah, $500 is pretty cheap if your running several $100,000 plus pieces of equipment, but thats a lot of oil changes for me.

Maybe I missed it in the video, but...

Are the filters re-usable/flushable? If not, how much for a "cartridge" or whatever it takes.

Thats what a good marketing scheme will do, almost give away the filter system then make all the profit off replacement filters, the markup on them must be 300% and over several years they laugh all the way to the bank. unless you are smart and find a cheaper refill

For $500 it isn't worth it. Besides most of our engines are 20+ years old with tons of miles on them already, it isn't worth it. You would be off taking that $500 and banking it for rebuild time.

Hmmm...yes you have a point there. If if were a 50k piece of equipment then maybe the number work, but probably not on our engines. Unless they want to donate one for testing......
