outside temp reading squrilley

we are talking 1995 W124 E300 Diesel 143K 606/910 horse.problem, reading is great when starting and works until the weather warms up,then my ondash reading goes into cyberspace, never to return until a complete cool down, I have spoken with a fellow member in our section and he has had the same problem with one of his 124's,and he said just ignore it, but I would like to repair it short of replaceing the full insturment panel.
Has any one out there who has suffered a like problem, and what did you do about it,besides saying to hell with it.
Thanks,Tom

seem to remember reading about common problem..

with w124 outside temps being inaccurate and even addressed in manual? I've never owned one, but remember people complaining.

Anyone?

John
