My first Frybrid oil kit

Spent the last two days with GeoDad installing a Frybrid kit on his 300D. Very well built kit and the installation is straightforward as it can be BUT it did take every bit of 18 or 19 hours to complete. He left here about an hour ago headed back to South Carolina. Unfortunately, we did not have any oil to pour into the oil tank (we used dyed diesel to insure everything was working the way it should). The only thing about the Frybrid kit that I can say is not up to snuff is the fact that you have to make your own wiring harness from the interior control panel to the "brain" console which we mounted under the hood. Overall though it looks like a good kit.

Never had any dealings with the frybrid kit. Hope he finds some good used oil to give it a shot.

Made it back OK

Didn't have time to stop at Sams to pick up any SVO, but I've got some WVO in a barrel here at home and will be trying it soon. I will try to get some pictures taken also to show our hose routings. Your shop is awesome, Jim! That lift made running the HIH lines from the trunk forward a great deal easier!

Only other thing I noticed in the Frybrid manual was that the terminals on the controller where mis-numbered in a couple of cases compared to what was stamped on the actual unit. Not difficult to figure out though.

Now, I have to decide how to mount the veg fuel gauge, lights and switches. I want to use the ashtray area, but don't really like the aluminum plate I got from Frybrid. Right now I'm using that but, it's just sitting there loose temporarily. Maybe I can drill through the wood on the original ashtray and mount them in the front of it?

Thanks again for all your help Jim!

I'm having my Frybrid installed on June 7th.........

Check out **************.com for their control mount panel. It goes between the steering column and the left side of the center console. Looks Sharp - I may go that route when the car gets returned to me. My Ham Radio control head is in the center console and i would prefer to leave it there.

I searched on the **************.com site for "control mount panel" but came up empty. Do you have a link by any chance?
thanks,

I helped instal a frybrid kit in a buddy's car. and he's been pleased as punch with it.

he has an 82 240D with 119K. body's beat though.

he's run nasty looking hydrogenated oil thru this thing in the dead of winter in northern Wisconsin, never missed a beat. 1o K miles so far? the only thing he needed to change is run it thru a couple of polishing filters before putting it in the tank.

I've been amazed.
