Interior Temp sensor location?

The 300TD has no A/C. I swapped out the monovalve. I replaced the foam tube behind the glove box, which was powder.
Next I want to swap the temp sensor to see if that's the culprit. I know the little grill is in the center of the dash, but where is the sensor? and how can I get to it?

Many Thanks

Bump. Please help.
If the sensor is located in the center of the dash under the little grill (?), how do I get to it? I don't want to pull too hard and pop it out or break it.
Or on the 83' 300TD, does that little grill/hole in the center of the dash just act as an entry for air while the actual temp sensor is someplace else?

I think you are getting a bit ahead of yourself. The cabin temperature sensor will simply regulate the temperature by using the blower speed and cycling the monovalve.

The function......or not.......of the a/c system is somewhat independent.

Start with the basics.

Does the compressor engage with the temperature wheel at full cold?

If not, does the system have a proper charge?

If so, does the CCU function properly and provide the signal to engage the compressor clutch?

Only when the a/c system functions and the cabin is poorly regulated via the temperature wheel do you start to chase the cabin temp. sensor or the associated ducting.

I guess I just posted a new tread about this foam tube (and deleted it, hopefully I get the answer here...). What the hell is that? Can I get it on Fast Lane?

I'll be away for a couple of days.........but others will guide you depending on the results of your compressor discovery.

Compressor seems to be going with temp wheel at full cold as well as when in the automatic mode. Heat is strong. Only ambient air seems to be coming in. silver pipe coming off the compressor horizontally across the engine doesn't seem to be cool.
Low A/C fluid/freon?

Sounds like your system has lost its charge. From here, the best route to take might be putting guages on the system.
