Oil Pressure Gauge
Got a question. I'm new to mercedes - found a 83 300SD - needs a lot of work - but my question - when I turn on the ignition, my oil pressure switch jumps to full pressure - is this normal - I have driven approx. 1,000 miles with no problems - no noises, no heating up. When the engine idles, it still reads max pressure, also there is a pressure gauge on the oil filter canister, but it doesn't show any oil pressure when running. baffled

from a post a couple days ago, it seems that in the SD's that those gadges go bad frequently and is a good idea to change....

Your problem IS NOT the oil pressure gauge. Its either the oil pressure sender, or the associated wiring.
